The story began with Mdm Jumana Rani, the creator of the light, fluffy, and flavourful Prawn Vadai, who fine-tuned the traditional Indian savoury made from lentil to suit the taste of Singaporeans.
They started selling it at the Geylang Ramadan Bazaar in the late 80s with the help of family members, and it became a yearly affair during the fasting month.
In the early 2000s, they joined the night market that was travelling all around Singapore, setting up stalls for a month or more in various locations, so they could serve their vadais all year round.
\The Original Vadai is a uniquely Singaporean snack that cannot be found in India or Malaysia.
It is the product of Mdm Rani's hard work and resilience, perfected and evolved over the years to encompass even more original Singaporean flavours.
Our vadais are deep-fried to golden crispy perfection on the outside and are a perfect teatime accompaniment or festive menu item.
