Description

Our founder, Mr Ng Juat Swee, known as Janggut, started The Original Katong Laksa in the 1940s by selling his laksa around the Marine Parade beach area carrying metal buckets on his shoulders.

His street food was served with short noodles and eaten with a spoon, which became our trademark. In the 1950s, Mr Ng and his brother sold laksa on a tricycle in their neighborhood before opening their first stall at 49 East Coast Road, known as Katong Laksa for its location.

Due to rent hikes, we relocated and settled in at Roxy Square in 2000 and opened another branch at Queensway Shopping Centre in 2005. Today, with the support of our team and customers, we have expanded to 5 locations.

We take pride in sharing the taste of Singapore’s Heritage with future generations by serving a unique Peranakan Nonya version of laksa.

Come and try the original!
