Kumon is a global leader in after-school education, providing Mathematics, English, and Chinese language subjects to students from pre-school to secondary school.
With over 50 countries and regions, Kumon has over 4 million students enrolled in more than 24,700 Kumon Centres worldwide.
The Kumon Method is an individualised, empowering learning approach that is customised to each child's ability level, not age. This allows students to progress optimally at their own pace, studying advanced topics and concepts beyond their school grade.
In addition to academic achievement, the Kumon Method instills important life skills such as determination, independence, and a passion for learning, which can benefit children both inside and outside the classroom.
The Kumon Method was developed by Toru Kumon out of his love for his son. Toru Kumon theorized that if his son was able to master high school math, he would have ample time for other pursuits. As a result, he created his own learning materials and study method, combining calculation problems on loose-leaf worksheets with a self-study approach that allowed his son to advance on his own.
This prototype became the foundation for the Kumon Method, which is centred around individualised learning that is tailored to each student's academic ability. The method enables students to progress at a pace that is perfect for them, achieving their full potential while learning important life skills.
At Kumon, we believe in the importance of empowering students to take ownership of their learning. Our individualised approach enables each student to progress according to their academic ability, building self-confidence and a love for learning.
The Kumon Method aims to help students not only achieve academic success but also develop important life skills that will benefit them in all aspects of their lives.
Through our customised approach, we aim to help each student reach their full potential and become lifelong learners.
