Description

Laksa Fans 辣沙 is a casual eatery located in Ang Mo Kio Central. Formerly known as Laksa Fun, it has taken over the space previously occupied by another establishment. With its vibrant red storefront, Laksa Fans stands out and invites passersby to step inside.

The interior is designed to be a quick-service dining area, featuring functional wooden tables with stools. While the small dine-in area may feel a bit claustrophobic, the flexible furniture can be rearranged to accommodate larger groups.

As the name suggests, Laksa Fans offers a variety of delicious laksa dishes. From traditional Singaporean-style laksa to a seafood laksa and their signature Assam laksa, there's something for every laksa lover. They also serve other mains such as different variations of Curry Mee and Nasi Lemak with various meat choices. Additionally, a range of sides like Homemade Tofu and Prawn Paste Chicken Wings complements the main dishes.

In terms of beverages, Laksa Fans provides the usual soft drinks along with some unique and uncommon options. Buah Long Long Juice, Classic Mocha Hor Ka Sai (a combination of Kopi O and Milo), and Bittergourd Honey Lemon are among the intriguing choices on the menu.

If you're in the mood for curry-related dishes, Laksa Fans has you covered. Their Kampung Curry Mee is a popular choice. Orders can be placed at the counter with staff or via a self-service kiosk at the entrance. The menu doesn't provide a detailed description of Kampung Curry Mee, but it typically includes bone-in chicken, taupok (beancurd puffs), potatoes, and dried shrimp. Customers can choose their preferred type of noodles.

The generous portion of Kampung Curry Mee comes with well-executed curry gravy. It strikes a balance between creaminess and spice, without overwhelming the palate. The noodles, whether Thin Bee Hoon or Kway Teow, absorb the flavourful gravy perfectly. The chicken pieces could be improved in terms of tenderness, while the potato adds a unique texture to the dish. The dried shrimp provides a pleasant umami note. The taupok soaks up the curry gravy and offers a burst of flavour with every bite.

In addition to Kampung Curry Mee, Laksa Fans also serves Kampung Nasi Lemak, which shares similarities with the former in terms of curry gravy and dried shrimp. However, the temperature of the curry gravy and the presentation of the dried shrimp on a plate rather than in a bowl affect the overall appeal of the dish. Nevertheless, the Butterfly Pea Flower-infused Nasi Lemak rice adds a subtle coconut fragrance, and the crispy Ikan Bilis provides a satisfying crunch.
