The legendary Swiss watchmaker, Solvil et Titus, was established in 1887 by Paul Bernard Ditisheim, considered the founder of modern chronometry. The name "Solvil" is derived from the village of Sonvilier in Switzerland, known for its production of meticulously crafted watch components, and "Titus" honors the first-century Roman emperor.
Ditisheim was born into a prominent family in the Swiss watch industry and received his watchmaking diploma from École d’arts appliqués La Chaux-de-Fonds at the young age of 13. He honed his skills at several leading watchmakers and made technological advancements in timekeeping accuracy, evidenced by his numerous victories in precision trials, including the world's chronometric record at the Royal Kew Observatory in 1912.
Solvil et Titus has since become synonymous with the highest standards of timekeeping precision, offering a range of timepieces from navigational watches to those with complex complications. After World War II, the brand expanded its production and market reach, establishing a presence in Asia by the 1970s.
In the late 1980s, Solvil et Titus positioned itself as a romantic icon through a series of memorable TV commercials featuring celebrities like Anita Mui, Dave Wang Chieh, Chow Yun Fat, Andy Lau, and Ryan Giggs. From the classic tagline "天長地久" (Love lost is perhaps the love that remains with you for all time) to today's "Time Is Love," the brand continues to evoke emotions and connect with audiences, especially among the style-conscious millennial generation.
Solvil et Titus timepieces are designed to express individual identity and convey love, no matter the occasion or moment.
