Our journey began over 40 years ago, when our founder's grandmother, living in a small kampong village in Katong, learned the recipe for the Nyonya Rice Dumpling from her neighbours. This tradition was passed down to her grandson, who grew up learning the intricate process of assembling these mouth-watering rice parcels.
Our managing director, MrLim, recalls his early days as a primary school student, spending one and a half hours each morning wrapping dumplings before heading off to school. This routine continued until his tertiary education, leaving him with memories of cuts on his fingers from handling pandan leaves and steam burns from preparing the rice.
Despite the challenges, MrLim excelled in his education, earning a degree in mechanical engineering. After graduation, he chose to apply his academic knowledge to enhance his family's business—Eastern Rice Dumpling. Today, we continue to uphold the tradition of creating delicious rice dumplings, carrying forward the legacy instilled by Mr Lim's grandmother.
