MOS Burger was established in Tokyo in 1972 by Mr. Sakurada, who was inspired by a cook-to-order hamburger chain in Los Angeles.

He envisioned creating a hamburger counterpart that would be popular with Japanese people. MOS Burger's Rice Burger, which was launched in 1987, became a massive hit and contributed to the company's success.

MOS Burger has expanded internationally, providing unique and original MOS burgers, as well as local specialties.

The name MOS comes from Mountain, Ocean, and Sun, which represent nobility, vastness, and life-giving qualities, respectively.
