Jurong Point

Jurong Point

Singapore, known for its dynamic skyline and bustling shopping districts, is home to many shopping havens. One such gem that stands out particularly in the western region is Jurong Point Shopping Mall, or more commonly known simply as Jurong Point (裕廊坊).

Historical Journey

Founded in December 1995, Jurong Point began its journey with a modest 95 retailers. What made its inception unique was that for many of these retailers, like Courts, Golden Village, NTUC FairPrice, and Harvey Norman, it was their maiden foray into a mall-based retail environment. Moreover, it had the distinction of hosting the Jurong West Public Library, marking the first time a public library was integrated within a shopping mall in Singapore.

Embracing growth, the mall underwent two major expansions. In December 2000, after acquiring an additional 150,000 square feet in 1998, it welcomed over 160 new tenants. This expansion also marked the entrance of the major department store, John Little.

By 2006, Jurong Point saw yet another significant extension which included the inception of a new retail wing named JP2. This brought the total number of shops to a staggering 680, with parking facilities expanded to 1,425 spaces.

Strategic Location & Accessibility

Nestled in Jurong West Central, Jurong Point’s strategic location next to the Boon Lay MRT Station and Bus Interchange makes it highly accessible. Serving as a gateway to the Jurong West Industrial estate, several key educational institutions, and the residential zones of the West, the mall has positioned itself as a central hub for all.

A Shopper's Paradise

Today, Jurong Point stands as the largest suburban mall in Singapore, boasting over 450 shops. From children's fashion outlets like Mama Miya and U-Cute to renowned brands such as Hush Puppies, Levi’s, and Pierre Cardin, it promises an eclectic shopping experience.

For those who prioritize skincare and beauty, Bella Skin Care offers modern treatments, while Creative Hair Zone ensures you’re always in vogue.

Food enthusiasts are in for a treat with options ranging from 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken, Danish delights at Andersen’s of Denmark to Japanese delights at Kabe No Ana Japanese Pasta. Not to forget the 24-hour FairPrice Xtra and popular brands like Din Tai Fung, Starbucks, and Adidas which add to its allure.

Dedicated zones like Ginza Delights, Mongkok, and Korean Street bring a global shopping experience under one roof. Moreover, with the integration of a 67-bay air-conditioned bus interchange, eleven civic community spaces, and a 610-unit condominium, Jurong Point is more than just a shopping mall; it's a thriving community.

A Testament to Visionary Partnership

The success of Jurong Point is also a testament to the visionary partnership between its joint owners, Guthrie GTS Limited and Lee Kim Tah Limited. Together, they’ve curated WOW experiences that make it the preferred choice for shoppers, especially those residing in the Western quadrant of Singapore.

From its humble beginnings to being the behemoth it is today, Jurong Point stands as a symbol of growth, diversity, and community spirit. As it continues to evolve and adapt to the changing retail landscape, one thing remains certain: Jurong Point will always remain a cherished destination for all Singaporeans.
